Tanning Salons Versus Self Tanning Products
No tanning salon wants to see their customers leaving and never coming back in. They don't want them to start relying upon self tanning products instead of coming in for services. There are more of those types of products on the market now than ever before. Even the top names in products that customers trust are offering them and people are buying them. Therefore the owners of tanning salons need to prevent this from happening.
Since you can't go around bad mouthing self tanning products you need to take another route. You need to make sure you are offering them everything they could want from a tanning experience. This way they won't be encouraged to go anywhere else. If they do ask your opinion you can tell them that you have seen plenty of people coming in with what appeared to be a fake tan due to the use of self tanning products.
Being able to show consumers what you offer above self tanning products is important too. Your tanning salon has to be willing to evolve to meet their needs. For example there are plenty of people out there worried about skin cancer so they want sunless tanning products. Be sure you offer them such as a mist tan or with an airbrush process.
This is great for those who are worried about skin cancer. Some people have very fair skin and they don't tan well at all. They may be worried about how pale they look and want to change that. No one wants to go to the pool or the beach and get comments about their white skin blinding others.
Do your best to keep prices low as that can be a turn off for tanners too. With the cost of everything going up they may need to cut out expenses. You don't want their tanning sessions to be one place where they do so. Offer them great deals that they simply can't pass up. Make sure you advertise how tanning can improve a person's mood and mental well being too.
There is plenty about tanning that many people don't know. They can do it on their own or they can come into your salon. If they call or come in with questions then make sure they leave feeling like you are the place they need to be for tanning. This means all of your staff is confident in what you offer. They can also tell customers about the various benefits of indoor tanning.
You also need to offer great products. Again, knowing about them is important. When a person sees self tanning products at the store they don't know what will work well for them. Therefore they will be less likely to buy them. If your staff takes the time thought to discuss the products available that will help each person with their tan based on their skin tone they will be encouraged to buy and use it.
It is important for owners of tanning salons to realize the threat that lingers with self tanning products. Knowing what you are up against can help you to develop great strategies to fight against it. People love to buy what is familiar so if you offer them something that works well for them they will have no reason to look at the various self tanning products out there.
