There are some ways to increase coffee shop business in the summer months. You don't want to see your profits slide due to the weather warming up. While you will always have your daily customers the weather certainly is a factor for coffee products. Many will be trading in that hot cup of coffee for a cold glass of iced tea. People tend to drink more when the temperatures heat up outside.
One way to get people to take notice of what you offer is to advertise. Don't just say you have a coffee shop, tell them what you offer. Tell them about drink specials, special times of the day when drinks are a lower price, and even about the new products you have to offer. Don't assume that everyone will just come in to check out the menu. However, if you advertise the menu chances are they will come in to order something.
You can add some cold drinks to your menu as well. Why not offer fresh brewed iced tea? What about iced coffee drinks? It is up to you if you want to only place them on the menu in the summer. Chances are though you will have customers that would like to see them available all year long. Having such options available will ensure you get more customers in the summer months.
You can go a completely different direction with some cooler drinks too. There is no written rule that says you must only offer coffee related drinks. Cold smoothies made from fresh strawberries or bananas will be a huge hit. They are healthy and they are sweet too which is a good combination for those with a need for something refreshing. Yet they also want to have a snack that satisfies their sweet tooth.
How about ice cream? You may want to offer a couple of great flavors. It is understandable that you don't want to become a full service ice cream shop. However, the standards - chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry can cover it. Of course you may want to offer a few such as coffee or cappuccino flavors as well.
Lighten up the atmosphere of the coffee shop in the summer too. This way it will become a place where people enjoy hanging out. Keep the dcor simple but attractive and inviting. You also want to keep it very cool in there so people will find it more relaxing than the temperatures outdoors.
Make it a place where people feel they can come in alone or with their children. Since they will be out of school over the summer you don't want your coffee shop to be a place that appears only for adults. If you give this impression you will end up losing out on a large piece of the population out there. Many parents listen to their children too when it comes to stopping in someplace for a drink or afternoon treat.
There are a few ways to increase your coffee shop business in the summer. Take a look at them and see which ones you can effectively incorporate into your coffee shop. Your goal should be to keep the right items on the menu so that you have a steady clientele coming into the coffee shop. You want this to happen all year long regardless of the temperatures outside.
