Learn How To Speak Spanish Fast
For people living in North America, especially the United States, it makes a lot of sense to learn Spanish if you are going to learn a second language. first;y, many Spanish speaking communities exist in the US so you will be able to live and work in these communities if you choose. Also, most of the countries that border or surround the US are Spanish speaking.
In Europe, speaking Spanish can help you if you visit Spain as a tourist or, more so, if you decide to retire to Spain as many people do.
So, if you have set your mind on learning Spanish as a second language what is the best way to do it ? How can you learn it as quickly as possible without all the boring bits in between ?
Getting to grips with vocabulary and grammar must be one of the worst jobs in the world. Especially if you have to learn them in a rote fashion.
Learning grammar and vocabulary via these methods are alien to how we learned our native languages. We picked them up through repetition and ultimately a desire to use the language.
If you watch how a child learns his native tongue then you will see how this works. The child spends a lot of time listening to his mother speak. Once he begins to understand her, he has a desire to communicate because the talk is probably revolved around him.
At the start his grunts and mumbles may be unintelligible but eventually he will be able to say a few words. He will continue to hone these speaking skills by watching a listening to people around him.
When he gets to the stage where he is forming simple sentences then it is safe to say he understands all the basic building blocks to learning a language. From this point his ability to speak will increase at a rapid rate.
He will put new words and verbs into these simple sentences. He will be praised or encouraged by those around him. He will start to watch the TV and learn new words. He will listen to his brothers ans sisters and learn things from them. All the time he will be trying the new words he has learned and gauging the feedback that he gets from people. He will always be learning new things about his native tongue.
Learning a language as child learned his native tongue is best done by immersion learning. Immersion learning is simply going to a country where the language you are learning is the first language.
This may sound scary at first. You are going to a country where you don't speak the language, although you will probably have some simple words and understanding of the language. You will be doing a course in the country and learning the language as a child might learn his language.
You are exposed to the language all the time. In order to communicate you have to speak it. In order to speak it you have to have the desire. And believe me, if you are living in a country where you don't have the language you have the desire.
All the barriers, like looking stupid or not knowing how to say something, drop away when you know that you have to speak to communicate. You understand the reason for learning a word or a sentence. It jumps out of a textbook and has a real application.
It won't be easy. Learning a new language never is, but the desire and need to communicate will get you through. You should also consider taking a class as this can provide vital support in you desire to learn.
So the best way, in terms of method and speed, to learn Spanish is to go to a country where it is spoken. Take a course and spend a few months there if possible. This will really bring on your understanding of the language.
