The Green Audit Certification

As the Green movement continues to grow, there will be a need for a more authoritative authority to validate that a service or product is actually Green in a more Green-concerned world. There are several important questions that should be answered before we travel much farther into the new Green economy.

We must first determine the definition of Green? The second issue is how can anyone certify that a product or service is actually Green? Both of these questions appear to have a variety of half-baked answers that are off-target, poorly provided, or frankly embarrassing when put to the test.

Green refers to the health implications of anything we add to the equations of our complex lives. If there are immediate and long-term harm done to humans, animals, or living things, the process is not Green. Now, it must be admitted that there are no 100% Green programs, but Green generally is established by a balance of minimal harm and maximum benefits. So, something like a disinfectant may be Green in an objective viewpoint because it has a minor concern during application, but has major health benefits to the health of those in a hospital.

A Green Audit is a process of evaluating products and services to determine if they are Green or not. Green Audits are professionally performed to evaluate the claims of a product or service by those seeking certification. This service is fair and complete requiring that a full report be completed by the firm as a preliminary review. This gives an early read prior to the full Green Audit and helps refine the review. The final report will provide an extensive review for the issuance of a Green certification known as Certifiably Green Clean.

The EPA does certify products according to their standards, but this process can be lengthy, expensive, and sometimes unfair. The Green Clean Institute is an independent firm that provides the Green Audit program for commercial and non-commercial applications. It is efficient, honest, and uncompromising in its program, and this credential is the result of a full review and evaluation of the service or product.

It is possible to seek the approval of the EPA, but the EPA process can be costly, slow, and not applicable to your project. The Green Business League works with the Green Clean Institute to perform the Green Audit for commercial and non-commercial applications. Not all programs will earn this certification, but those that do, have a great certification.

Green credential should never be by self-acclamation or strength of advertising. Greenwashing refers to the growing practice of misleading consumers about the Green nature of a product. The Green Business League works with the Green Clean Institute to perform the Green Audits. Before your company loses an important deal, consider a Green Audit. There are no guarantees of a Green certificate, but it is entirely possible to get your Green certification through this process.
