Options In Auto Purchases And Auto Loans

It's easy to spend someone else's money- and loans give the impression that consumers can go wild with spending and get a luxurious car, without considering the consequences. Auto loans aren't free money by any means, so this can be a dangerous impression indeed. In fact, there are some unnecessary upgrades for cars to avoid, simply because they drive the price of insurance and interest rates up.

Among some of the extra features of autos is the integrated GPS device. These devices report where the person is, which is great for finding one's way around a city or when vacationing. But these integrated devices drive up the cost of cars, and thus, the cost of loans and insurance. It is usually much more thrifty to simply buy a GPS device separately and install it yourself- saving you money in three different areas of payments while achieving the same results.

Keyless entry is another new fangled feature that is keeping auto loan rates inflated for consumers. Keyless entry devices allow consumers to enter cars with the press of a button. But unbeknown to most consumers is the fact that these devices can be easily installed by a mechanic, and without the inflated interest rates that result on an auto loan.

Heated and cooled seats are another popular item when it comes to luxury. It's tough to agree to pay inflated rates on auto loans for a device that accomplishes what the heater and air conditioner already does. In this case, these devices are generally best left to the wealthy who don't mind enduring higher interest rates as a result.

Tires that withstand flats are great to have. It allows drivers to safely get to a mechanic before ultimately having to change the tire. But these luxurious tires can cost a lot more money in terms of insurance and auto loans- leaving many consumers to rethink buying cars sporting them. And since flats don't happen often, this luxury item would hardly be used much anyhow.

It is interesting to look at what was considered a luxury in the past. In most cases, what was a luxury is now commonplace. Cruise control or power windows are two examples of such items that are now fairly common on today's society. These options still inflate auto loan prices, but only minimally if much at all. It is usually not necessary to make an effort to do without such conveniences.

It's nice to ride in luxury, but many times it is just not worth it to pick a car that comes standard with such luxuries. It's often thriftier to instead stick to alternatives or installing the luxuries with the help of a mechanic. This saves money on insurance and auto loan interest rates- not to mention the car itself is cheaper.

It all comes down to what the consumer can afford. Some do not mind the high prices in exchange for a bit of much needed luxury. And as we have seen in the past, today's luxuries will be tomorrow's standard conveniences. In due time, it's likely the luxuries that cost extra today will soon be standard and less costly as a result- but until then, it's good to be thrifty.
