Recognizing The Physical Symptoms Of An Anxiety Attack
There are lots of people today who have experienced an anxiety attack and so are then quickly able to recognize the physical signs of an anxiety attack in the future. The main symptoms associated with such attacks are heavy breathing, pains to the chest, the bodies extremities become numb and their body shakes uncontrollably. Although quite a few people will suffer all the symptoms we have mentioend, there are plenty of others when an attack takes place will only suffer from one or two of them.
Someone who is suffering a panic attack may feel that they are having a heart attack or nervous breakdown. Because of this, some people call an ambulance and have themselves taken to a hospital. While this is not always necessary, it certainly can't hurt to have the care of a professional to help you through the attack. If you suffer from severe anxiety, however, you may have already discovered some other ways to alleviate the symptoms.
It is believed that an anxiety attack is related to our bodies response to survive and not only do human suffer from this condition so do animals as well. It is this response that we have to certain situations which has ensured our survival. Normally such attacks will occur when the body is responding instinctively to a situation, but there is no apparent cause for it being triggered in the first place.
Recent studies have shown that repeated panic attacks can increase a person's chances of suffering a stroke or heart attack in the future. People with a singular panic attack, but no history of anxiety disorder are not likely to suffer any heart damage or serious lasting effects.
It is not clear, however if the increased risk posed to regular sufferers is caused by the attacks or is merely related to them. Some doctors even argue that the medications prescribed for anxiety disorder put people at risk of cardiovascular events. Either way, a panic attack is a clear sign that something is not well, and the problem must be dealt with, not the symptoms.
Dealing with any kind of anxiety of panic attack is not always that easy especially if they are severe. Although your doctor may be able to treat the symptoms effectively, often it needs other ways to help a person find and then deal with the underlying causes of an attack. Today, there are various different types of therapy available which are proving effective at helping to treat the actual causes. Of all the different types one that seems to be extremely effective is cognitive behavorial therapy which helps a person to recognize what is triggering the attack and then work on ways to change the way in which they react to it and so prevent an attack from happening.
Other ways in which people work at helping to bring their attacks under control is through the use of deep breathing exercises or more advanced relaxation techniques. They will often use these in collaboration with either aromatherapy, massage therapy or acupuncture treatments. However, it is important to remember that when it comes to treating the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack is not just simply of a case of you trying to think positively or cheering yourself up.
Anxiety is a real medical condition and must be treated as such. Hopefully, with careful attention, anyone can beat the crippling effects of anxiety.
