Recycling of Air with Air Cleaners

It is common to find Air Cleaner Filters in cars and rooms in needing recycling of air. These cleaning devices are used to purify and clean the air. The most popular use of air cleaner filters is to purify the air of solid harmful particles. Examples of these particles would include harmful microbes such as bacteria as well as dust and pollen mould. With particles like these removed the air is made cleans and fresh.

Gas turbine engines especially need air cleaner filters as cleaner air makes them significantly more efficient.

Air filters use a number of methods to clean harmful particles from the air. A very common method involves the use of fiber elements which are in the air filter as filters. Particles and dust stick to the fiber and thus only cleaner air is discharged.

Other more complex techniques still exists like the use of static electricity. With this method a static electric charge is used to attract the particles and dust in the air. With such harmful particles removed clean air is discharged. Oil bath filters was also popular in the past before improved air filter technology phased them out.

There have continued to be advancements in the air cleaner filter industry brought about by advances in fluid science. With modern air cleaner filters air conditions and gas turbines work efficiently promoting healthy human health. Some popular air filter materials include cotton filters and paper foam filters. Air filters have to be cleaned and changed regularly and periodically to get optimum performance.

There is much research done on the flammability of the air filters. These air filters are classified into class one and class two types based on their flammability. The class 1 filters do not become fuel when they are exposed to flame. This means they produce only negligible amount of smoke when they are burnt. The class 2 filters however become ready fuel when exposed to the flame. These produce moderate amounts of smoke while burning.

The air filters are designed in many shapes and sizes to fit the area of flow of air. The air filters should be regularly changed as they get clogged over time filtering out air. The clogging of air filters not only produces impure air but also reduces the airflow through the passage.

For an engine this could mean serious drop in the performance of the engine. The size of the air filter also depends on the passage of air. There are different applications of the air filters but the most common application would be in internal combustion engines, gas turbines and air conditioners for both cars and rooms.

Paper is a very common air filter material used in cars. A reason for this is that they are cheap and easy to replace. They are also quite efficient and popular as automobile air cleaner filters. Foam elements wetted with oil is another popular automobile air cleaner filter material. In the past foam was popular as an air cleaner filter material but have been laid aside with air filter technological advancement.
