Why Migraines Begin In The Teens

Very few young kids suffer from migraines. Most people develop migraines in their teens or later. Why does this happen?

Researches has indicated that migraines is caused due to hormonal development. But the main reason as to why migraines develop in young people and to avoid this we have to play our hands right.

So, why do migraine catches one in their early teens?

The main cause for migraines and headaches is oxygen deprivation in the brain as I have mentioned in my other articles on migraines.

The four things that cause this deprivation are:

1) We don't inhale enough oxygen - because our breathing passages are not open enough and the muscles that control the lungs are not effective enough.

2) Only a small percentage of the oxygen that reaches the lungs actually goes into the blood stream. This is due to bad breathing habits, which again are caused by ineffective muscle control in the lungs.

c} Tension is created in the neck muscles and the blood stream through the neck is constricted. Instead of helping the heart to pump blood up to the head they blocks it.

d} The muscles around the head creates tension. But these muscles are often stiff and do the opposite.instead of being flexible and help the heart to pump the blood to various areas of the brain .

Now what does this have to do with teenagers developing migraines? Everything!

Think about it: Up until age five or six, kids run around playing all day. They hardly sit down to eat dinner. And given the choice they'll sit down on the floor with their plate. This is the position nature wanted for us.

Then school begins. Hours are spent sitting on uncomfortable chairs, leaning over schoolbooks. The older kids get, the more they sit. They sit in school, in front of the TV and computer, talking to friends, eating supper. More sitting, less running, jumping, rolling and crawling.

Certain muscles become weak due to the less usage as our back is not meant for just sitting. The muscles which was meant to control the lungs were instead controlling the balance of the body. As a result the neck and shoulders get stiff and blood doesn't flow through.

Migraines are not common in less developed countries as people out there do not sit on chairs.

The teenagers years are the toughest years in many peoples lives - trying to fit in and figure out life.

Teenagers unconsciously develop the habit of freezing and stop breathing for several seconds when faced with tough decisions and this habit is continued throughout their life and causes headache attacks and migraines.
