Procrastination - How To become more productive working from home
If you work at home you know it's simple to get distracted and accidentally procrastinate and therefore lose tons of money from un-productivity. We don't want to lose our valuable time when we work from home, so here are a couple of solid tips for increasing your productivity and stop procrastinating when you are a home worker.
Start your day by rising early in the morning
If you have a family and you are working from home, this idea is a must for you to follow. Soon you would realize that getting just an hour or two earlier than others helps you to effectively manage several tasks. One big advantage with this idea is that you would be able to work without any interruption from telephone calls or your family members. You are also able to think clearly because you are starting your day fresh after a good night's rest. Clarity leads to organization and this is the key to productivity. Get yourself organized
If you don't want to mess up, get a daily and weekly planner. With this planner it's virtually impossible to miss anything important such as an interview or dentist appointment. And since you are busy, these things may easily be forgotten.
Prepare a daily checklist
Most people don't have the mind capacity to remember so many tasks at once. So, being able to write down most of the important things would help you get things done on time. When you are done with a task, simply cross it off your list. Spend your energy focusing on DOING and not on trying to figure out what you need to do. A checklist is also a great way to accomplish several tasks in a day.
Self-Motivate yourself
You could read a lot of books on this subject. You need to give yourself a motivational boost on and off to set your goals and accomplish them. Motivation slogans, A mission statement, cartoon pictures that remind you of your responsibility, etc. are all small things that could fuel your energy for the day.
Make use of Office Automations
We live in an internet oriented world now. Automation is easier than ever. It's easy to speed up tasks and let bots, robots and software do most of the work you usually do. Time is money and automating tasks definitely reduces your time spent and increases productivity as well as save time and energy. You should learn how to use the internet, web 2.0, chats, e-mail and thing like this to speed up your workprocess tenfold. And don't forget to rest.
Go check your e-mail, read a magazine, relax, take a sandwich, go to the bathroom or anything else you can do every 2 hours. Don't over-work, becuase it's easier to work in 2 hour blocks, but remember... Don't take too long breaks as they tend to put you off-track and make you do other things. (your "happy emotion" comes into play)
With these simple, but straight foreward tips you should be able to convert work from home to productivity at home, mixed with fun and play. People will start to look at you and wonder where all this productivity came from and pat you on the back.
