For those of you who sell digital products via the internet you may want to read this very carefully because you are probably losing a fortune. Digital piracy is becoming an ever increasing problem if you deliver word documents, ebooks, PDF's, software, video's, and more. Illegal access to protected content is growing right along with the internet. If you are not protecting you digital assets than it is time you start.
As amazing as this might seem over half of internet user feel that it OK to share protected content. Due to the internet being the information highway most user don't even realize how big a problem digital piracy has become. The problem has now grown into a multi billion dollar a year industry.
You are probably thinking to yourself that the majority of loss is with large companies like Microsoft or the record industry and to a certain extent you are correct. But, by not protecting digital assets internet marketers, writers, and software developers are taking a big hit and it is costing most more than they realize.
If you are a digital retailer than you more than likely use a shopping cart with some form of built in protection system. What then is protecting your files after the sale has been made? When someone asks you for a refund but keeps the product don't you feel as though you have been robbed? There have been many times that I had to refund a purchase knowing that the customer did not have time to even look at their purchase. I sure feel as though I was ripped off when that occurred. Digital asset protection software would have given me the ability to repossess my files.
Let's add up some figures to get an idea of what the impact of not have digital download protection has. Lets say for example that you sell an average of 200 ebooks each month which sell for an average of $47. That's a total of $9,400 per month. If you average a 10% refund rate you just lost $940 or over $11,000 per year and that is just the beginning. How many customers do you think share your files with their friends, family, or on the forums to which they belong. There are even those who will resell your files.
The whole thought of losing that much money is probably making you sick to your stomach. Well don't fret because there are now products which can completely stop all types of piracy. There are not very many but there are some out there. When you want to stop losing money there are some things you will want to look for when analyzing available digital download protection products.
Look for a product that allows you to protect unlimited files. The products that charge per file are just too pricey. You want to find products that allow you to immediately lock, disable, and repossess any stolen files. Some products now allow you to set expiry dates and trial periods. Last, but far from least, a product which allows you to track usage to prevent sharing.
Start protecting your digital assets today. I assure you that when you do you will begin to see more sales, less refunds, and your income will grow accordingly. Just imagine the look on their face after they get a refund but find that they can no longer access the file. Priceless!
