General process for generating sales leads using Google AdWords.

Place a free offer on your website. Require your visitors to fill out a registration form before they can get your offer. When your registration form is completed you get the lead and your visitors get your free offer. Win-Win!

Put your offer on your website. Sign up for Google AdWords, create an ad that promotes your offer, choose a few keywords that are relevant to your offer, in your ad put the URL of the page on your website that contains your offer.

The Four Steps to Using Google AdWords to Generate Leads for Your Business.

1. Giveaway something of real value on your website (Lead Generation Magnet). Your potential customers are searching for something of value. They want demos, trials, how-to-guides, etc. They want something of value right now.

2. Create your landing page. Your landing page will contain a strong headline that clearly describes the main benefit(s) of your free giveaway. This is your chance to create desire for your free giveaway. Now place an overview paragraph below your headline desribing your offer in a bit more detail. Next put a few beneift driven bullet points that tell your visitor what he or she is going to get by registering. The last thing on your page will be your registration form. When your visitors fill out this registration form they'll be taken to your "thank you page" that contains your offer. Keep this page as simple as possible, remember you're main goal is to get the registration.

3. Setup a Google AdWords account. Now that you have a Google AdWords account you'll need to choose a few keywords and write an ad to promote your free giveaway. When writing your ad be sure to promote your giveaway the best that you can. You also want to make sure that you set the "destination" URL of your ad to be that of the landing page you created in step 2. Choose keywords related to your giveaway.

4. Take advantage of Conversion Tracking. Conversion tracking allows you to see how many leads your generating, and how much it's costing you per lead on average. This information allows you to measure your Return On Investment (ROI). Google offers a free conversion tracking tool in your AdWords account. Place the small snippet of code that Google provides and insert it on your thank you page, the page that is displayed after someone registers on your thank you page.

After your campaign is up and running you should log into your AdWords account and measure how much your spending per click and per lead. Make sure that you're not over spending on AdWords.
