These companies put together databases that hold information on every phone number. People can then search through these databases if they need to "investigate" a certain phone number.
You can use this type of search (it's called a reverse phone lookup) online. It's easy to do - you type in the phone number, click a button, and the information on the person immediately gets displayed on your computer screen.

Go through the entire list of phone numbers and run a search on each one. As you are doing this make sure to write down the information you find out about each one on the same sheet of paper.
When you are done this step you will have information on exactly who your spouse has been talking to on their phone. When you have this information in front of you it's going to be easy to spot anything that looks out of the ordinary. Anything suspicious will jump off the page at you.
