A Recipe for Success in 4 Easy Steps
There are countless books on self improvement and getting ahead, but what people really want is a simple recipe for success that can be applied to anything they do. I found such a formula many years ago, and it has served me well. Once you put it into practice a few times, it will become second nature to you. In fact, you'll forget you're actually doing it.
I did not come up with this idea on my own. In fact, it's not mine. I "stole" it from the great "Personal Power II" home audio program by Tony Robbins. In short, this is a four step formula for achieving results, regardless of what it is.
The great thing about this is that it is subject matter neutral. The formula doesn't care what you want to achieve, but there are some guidelines. The hardest part of this may be that any doubts or fears you have based on beliefs and experiences need to be put aside if this is going to work for you.
To accomplish anything of great value usually takes a bit of a leap of faith. You have to learn to "get out of your own way" and take action regardless of doubt.
If after reviewing this formula, it seems simple to you, that's because it is. Part of the reason it works is because it's simple.
You might be tempted to dismiss this system when you first see it as being too simplistic, and, dare I say, too obvious. But, once you have all the ingredients in place and you begin to see results, you'll realize this recipe for success, not unlike the wheel, possesses simple power.
Motivation initiates action. Motivation, however, is easily lost and needs to be renewed. Following the guidelines in this recipe will help you to keep on track and renew your motivation. Below is the formula for success that works to get you what you want.
1. Decide on what you want - Many people do not do this! Instead, they wish away their time. You must decide on what you want your outcome to be. Let's say you need to buy some milk. Imagine getting in your car and driving down random roads, with no particular destination in mind. Not the most efficient way to go buy some milk. What are the odds that you'll end up where you want to go if you don't have a destination in mind? Slim to none.
2. Action -- Taking action toward your desired outcome is critical. You must make a decision to take immediate action and work toward your goal. Commit to this action plan ignoring all fear and doubt.
3. Track progress -- Check your progress and notice what is working and what is not. Do more of what is working, and change or drop what is not working. Keep fine tuning your actions until you achieve the results you want.
4. Model someone successful -- One of the quickest ways to success is to find someone who has what you have, and then do what they did to get it. Modeling means copying what works. You can then improve upon it by monitoring your progress and adjusting.
I've employed this recipe for success many times, and it can work for anyone. Use it and then tell someone else about it so they can use it too.
