Pitfalls With The Law of Attraction And How To Avoid Them

There is a wonderful book you should check out called Your Invisible Power. It was written by Genevieve Behrend. She makes some very powerful statements in that book. One that really stands out is the believe that once you are able to understand the power of the Law of Attraction you can start to visualize your goals. This is going to help you to attract those things in life that you want for yourself.

Another valid point that she makes is that when it comes to the Law of Attraction you are going to reap what you sow. This means if you work to have positive energy in your life that is what you will attract. However, if you allow negative energy to continue to be all around you then that is the type of things that you will attract your direction.

Some people find that the Law of Attraction is to difficult to control so the give up right away. They would rather let things continue to just happen to them than to work for what they really want to see take place. Yet for those that are dedicated to sticking with it, they can really make it work for them. They can find those positive forces of energy out there that will bring good things their way. In order to do this though you have to be able to avoid some of the most common pitfalls.

1.Identify a Goal

This needs to be very precise and not just vague. While your goals will likely change as your life changes you are going to always need to have established goals. Change them though based on what is going on in your life and where you want to be.

A child would wish for a big car, a nice house - all the tangibles they can see with the 'happy' people around them.

For teenagers things change a bit. They realize that everything out there costs money so the idea of getting a job is very real to them. They also want to find a person to love that is going to be a part of all they do with their future.

Young adults may not be too interested in a long term career yet. They do search for jobs that can help them to pay the bills and have some fun though.

2. Failing to break the goal down into smaller pieces.

Too many people will become overwhelmed by what has to take place in order for them to reach a certain goal. That can result in negative energy surrounding them as they are afraid of failing. Yet once you start to write down the smaller pieces you have to accomplish it does get easier, and you will find more positive energy coming your way.

2. How are you going to reach your goal?

It is important to realize that there are plenty of small things you are going to need to accomplish before you reach that ultimate goal. Since we can't control all of the things that take place around us, we have to be as positive as we can with what takes place.

The stepping stones we have identified have also got to be periodically reviewed and revised. At the goal setting stage we may identify one set of stepping stones, but as we progress towards our goal, we find that in our naivet we had identified a very simplistic set of stepping stones.

3.Focus on your goal

We are not living in a static environment, where we can single-mindedly focus on our goals in life. Our focus often gets side tracked by events happening around us - either to us directly or to others who are close to us. We may set our sights on a brilliant career. However if family misfortune or ill-health should happen, our focus on building our career would need to shift.

Everyone is going to have times when they have positive energy and then times when they have negative energy. While the overall goal should be to generate positive energy all the time it isn't going to happen. No one has the power to do that all the time. Pay close attention to what your sources of negative energy are though so you can remove them from your life.

Keep in mind that everyone around you will be generating their own types of energy as well. It may be positive or it may be negative. You can't control what they are feeling in their heart or their mind, but you can work to control your own. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to distance yourself from those that always seem to have a negative energy around them.

There are two types of energy out there that you can have - positive or negative. You want to strive to have as much positive energy as you possibly can on a regular basis. It won't always be a picnic to do so, but squash out the negative energy as quickly as you possibly can. Pay attention to the energy that is around you as well because you certainly want to be attracting positive energy from others rather than negative energy.

5. You are not alone!

We also have to remember that our actions are going to influence and impact others that are around us. What type of energy do you want to be giving to them? Always keep this in mind as it will help you to be a better person in the overall scheme of things.

In many ways you can compare this part of your life to that of a puzzle. There are many pieces that fit together but you have to determine how it works. You have to visualize the overall picture and then work to make it all fit together like you want it to. Where it gets tricky though is that you may have the picture for the completely look of the puzzle, but not all of the pieces to complete it yet. Don't let this be a reason to through the pieces of it that you do have into the trash though.

You have a clear image, but not all the pieces. It is difficult to put the puzzle together. Knowing you do not have all the pieces in itself is a deterrent to completing the puzzle with the pieces you have

What this finished puzzle looks like for you though is really going to depend on your energy. If it is positive then it will likely look better than what you earlier imagined. If you see faded areas then you need to work harder to be able to get that very vivid image to become reality.

You are given an image, but it keeps changing. Depending on your frame of mind and things around you they colors could appear more vibrant or more faded. The vibrant colors would encourage us to crack the puzzle faster. The faded colors would be a deterrent. The best scenario would be to be given a clear image with all the pieces and the icing on the cake would be directions on how to work the puzzle, in what order to fit in the pieces! In a lot of the jigsaw puzzles we work we have a clear image and all the pieces, but then life is not a game and so most often we do not have a clear picture, but rather an ever-changing picture. And while we are working out the puzzle of life we experiences a lot of changes of light that make the colors and shades appear different. Our surroundings also tend to change with more noise and distraction and people and events competing for our attention.

As Winston Churchill: said , "During their lifetimes, every man and woman will stumble across a great opportunity. Sadly, most of them will simply pick themselves up, dust themselves down and carry on as if nothing ever happened"

Such is life. Depending on the energies we radiate we will attract people and circumstances. Depending on the surroundings in which we find ourselves, various opportunities will present themselves. It is then left to us to pick and choose our opportunities and to make the most of them. The journey of life will not take place with us standing on the starting block and focusing on the goal. We have to take that first step and the second step and then pick up momentum or else we will remain on the starting block and life will pass us by. We cannot stand on the shore and look for all the hidden rocks in the sea of life, and try and chart our course to our goal without taking the first step. The hidden rocks will keep shifting with the shifting sands.

The time to start applying the Law of Attraction to your own life though is right now. Don't put it off as you are letting quite an opportunity go by that you really want to take advantage of. Don't let those negative thoughts and feelings prevent you from giving it a try.

Joan Curcio has a very good outlook on this concept. She says you should jump right in and take a look around. Don't be afraid to get dirty or to take changes. If you are willing to reach for what you want then you can make it happen.
