If you're someone that needs to make a presentation, give a sermon, or for some other reasons do some public speaking, a test for anxiety may be necessary. After all, most people admit that public speaking is their number one fear, even before death and dying.
In other words, most people at a funeral would rather be the person in the coffin than the one making the eulogy! That maybe simplifying a bit too much, but for most of us public speaking is a test for anxiety that most wouldn't want to take.
Over the years, people have used many tips and tricks to get over this fear. Most common is the old "picture everyone in the underwear" routine, but while it maybe funny, there are lots of more practical steps for those who need to speak in public, doing the test that is so difficult for almost everyone.

We would not recommend any speaker to picture your audience in there underwear; that can lead to get sued - of feeling nauseaus - depending how your audience looks! This trick has become a practise for public speaking and a test for anxiety mainly because it is to remind the speaker that his or her audience is human, just like all of us are.
The first step is to put your mind at rest as they are not there to hurt you or make fun of you as most probably they are nervous, anxious and afraid of speaking like most of us. In addition to that we all have our own little things we are terrified of as well so you can relax and realize we are all the same.
Another important tip when talking about public speaking, to test for anxiety, is to picture the faces of everyone in the crowd individually, and make yourself feel as if you are talking to that person one-on-one. Forget the crowd, which is only going to make you nervous.
Really put yourself in a person-to-person conversation with that one individual. Talk directly to him or her during your speech or sermon. You will most probably feel less anxious as you are having a more intimate conversation with a person rather than talking with a crowd.
Public Speaking Anxiety - The Real Test
Many times people feel that the way they feel during the speech or sermon is out of their control and if they get anxious and nervous, that's it. They will feel anxious and nervous.
To address your anxiety better, it's very important to make a test for yourself before it's time to make a speech. This is the real public speaking test and it comes before your speech.
To start picture yourself giving a speech, lecture or a sermon. Do you feel your heart racing and getting your palms sweaty? This test can be an excellent way to get to know your real mental and physical symptoms as you give a speech in a real live situation.
Are you afraid, and if so, of what? Of not knowing the answer to a question that's asked of you, or of losing your place during your speech? Are you afraid of embarrassing yourself, of fainting or dying or throwing up?
The power of suggestion can be extremely powerful force. You can start worrying about things you didn't even think about before we mentioned them. If you think you are feeling sick, that might happen and if you think you are going to lose your place, there's a strong possibily that it might actually happen!
The good side of this is that one can use this mental power to your advantage as well. Start telling yourself that you are a strong, powerful, successful, fortright and dynamic speaker, that will happen eventually. If you keep telling yourself that your audience will respect and respond to you, they most likely will.
As you are doing this public speaking test, you must be brutally honest with yourself, going through what your initial reactions and fears are and will be. That is the only way to address those fears honestly and effectively.
Preparation is Important After a Public Speaking Test for Anxiety
This public speaking test for anxiety can give an important glue on the importance of preparation for any speech, lecture, sermon or presentation. You'll have less and less problems with your presentation once you know your material inside out.
Losing a place in your notes or answering addtional questions become irrelevant if you are truly prepared and know your material inside out.
The whole idea of the public speaking test is to find your personal weaknesses and work on those so use that information wisely.
After Making The Public Speaking Test - Put Things in Perspective
Naturally, you still might have fears and doubts about yourself as a speaker, but you have to remember that is just normal behavior for most of us. You have to remind yourself that you can do only so well with any presentation or a lecture.
If someone asks a question that you don't know, commend them on the question and admit that you're not sure, but that you would like to research the subject and get back with them. If something embarrassing happens, just learn to laugh it off and move on.
Even though there is no public speaking test for anxiety that can prepare you for everything that might happen, it certainly helps you to prepare after an honest evaluation. You should feel very proud of yourself to even tackle puclic speaking and to face such an assignment and to get in front of an audience in the first place!
