Snowboard Apparel - What You Need And Where To Get It
If you are thinking about getting some snowboard apparel then you should prioritize what you really need and what is merely a nice to have item but not essential. Snowboard apparel can get pretty costly if you have all the gear and all the latest models or styles. This article will point out what you really need and other ways to get the stuff that is more expensive.
To begin, I think if you are new to snowboarding or have a tight budget you should try to rent as much snowboard gear as possible. Most gear can be rented at a reasonable price. The advantage of this is that you will not have much to pay to rent out all the gear and you will be able to try it out and see if you like it.
So equipment like boots and the snowboard are best rented at first. You may also chose to rent a brand or model of board before purchasing it to take it for a test drive so to speak. This way you will know if you like it or it suits your style. People also hire things like goggles and helmets because they are not always needs and are dependent on the weather and type of snowboarding you will be doing.
You can even hire a snow jacket and pants if you want however most people generally buy a snow jacket because it can be used outside of snowboarding and they are not so keen on wearing hand me downs.
Should you decide to purchase some snowboard apparel then the following items are more important than any other gear.
Gloves, snow jacket, snow pants, eye protection.
The following items are nice to have but not essential (Better to hire until you know what you want).
Snowboard and boots, helmet.
If the cold weather gets to you then you may need some extra layers of clothing to keep you warm. Cold weather underwear can help with this. Cold weather underwear are like olden day long johns in that they cover most of the body and provide warmth. You may also think about getting a fleece as a middle layer to keep warm.
For the general snowboard apparel like the snow jacket, pants and gloves you can find them in most large department stores. some department stores have a good variety of items and some do not. They also have bargains occasionally because they haven't sold certain items. Snowboards, boots, helmets and goggle are probably best found in specialist winter sports or snowboard shops. They will also have staff that can help you and will be knowledgeable on the sport.
A popular way to shop for some snowboard apparel is on the internet. There are many ski and snowboard stores that have great selections of apparel at reasonable prices. Of course it is often hard to shop for certain items online as you need to get a feel for them or try them one. However if you know what you want an online snowboard shop can offer good prices.
for smaller apparel like gloves, hats and scarve you could even take alook at the internet auctions. There are great prices to be found on ebay but factor in shipping costs if you are comparing like for like.
Once you are kitted out with your snowboard apparel then you can hit the slopes. If it is your first time snowboarding then take it easy. You'll endure a few bumps and bruises to begin with but it will be worth it in the end. If you are coming to snowboarding from skateboarding or surfing then you should pick it up pretty quickly. Have Fun!
