10 day diets do they really help with weight loss for women?
A lot of women are now looking at 10 day diets. With many of the diet books, you'll discover that they provide a intensive 10-14 day weight loss phase initially, then you shift to a maintenance program for a much longer period over the next few weeks.
This is where plans like the Dreambody System by Graham Foster and some other similar weight loss systems for longer term weight loss come to the forefront because they take the woman who's attempting to lose significant weight to the next level. There are of course several other popular systems and support groups which supply advice and ongoing help for the longer term. which encourage sustained weightloss and prevent yo-yo dieting two of which are Weight Watchers and the Jenny Craig system.
This what I will refer to as second phase weight loss programs, as opposed to the 10 day diets found widely across the internet. These programs give you greater opportunity to make lifestyle changes and usually involve making much slower dieting progress of just a few pounds of weight lost a week. But over a much longer period of time.
If these weight loss programs offer such a long term solution to our weight loss problems why is it that we are still drawn to those 10 day diets. There are even diets that say they can help us lose 10 pounds or more in a week. The rationalle behind our enthusiasm for these instant solutions is we all want to take the easy route with minimal effort and maximum results.
Look at it this way if we decide to try and lose weight the last thing we want reminding of is that we will be starving ourselves for days so the thought of long term diets is even less appealing. With some women all they really need is a quick fix which they can get from this type of 10 day diet.If all they looking for is a small weight loss to be able to look a million dollars at the prom reunion or on vacation. I believe this is the biggest reason these instant fix books are so popular amongst women trying to lose weight across the world.
Well I have good and bad news for you when it comes to 10 day diets the good news is they do actually work and provided you stick to them you can shed about 5 pounds a week with some fairly simple changes to your eating habits.
However there is some not so good news as well, most people will only adhere to this level of effort for a couple of weeks or so and indeed some quite popular short fix diets are actually quite detrimental to your health long term.
So if you need to shed a few pounds the answer may well be a simple diet that you can sustain for few days or even with care a complete detox (I am not personally in favor of detoxing without supervision as people do tend to get quite weak after a couple of days of not eating and it can create other health problems occasionally)
If you are obese or just looking to get in much better shape and lose more weight, then you'll be looking for a weight loss scheme that promotes longer term weight loss and will bring the need to make life-style changes. Then I am sorry to tell you the 10 day diet option or even for that matter a 2 week diet is not going to get you those sort of results you are looking for.
